Believe it or not...that's all! Enjoy!
Just a spot to share quick, simple, but delicious home-cooking...like the stuff Mom used to make. I appreciate fine dining as much as any die-hard foodie, but there's still room on the menu for tasty easy-to-prepare recipes that take less time in the kitchen and give you more time with your family and friends.
Actually bake it longer - 30 minutes (ish)...
ReplyDeleteWorks with can of crushed pineapple too!!
ReplyDeleteTried it with cherry pie filling and it tasted good but took much longer to cook the middle.
Bev... Did you drain the pineapple?
DeleteLove this idea! Thanks for the recipe and modifications. :)
so where does the cinnamon come in? is it in the angel cake mix or the can of apple pie filling?
ReplyDeleteDid not like!!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try this later today. Looks yummy. Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteWhere's the cinnamon at though? Do you add some to the top or mix in with the other two ingredients?
ReplyDeletewas delish and I too, baked it longer
ReplyDeleteI baked it...could not find a can of apple pie filling made my own with green granny smith apples, cornstarch and peptin, also added cinnamon and nutmeg...to my apples...it was really good. if you make your own apples make sure your apple filling cools down to room temp...other wise your cake mix will start to cook & rise too high...and then collasp after cooling... I served it with with wipcream and sprinkle of nutmeg on top.MMMMmmm good!
ReplyDeleteThis was fabulous! So easy! I added a teaspoon of cinnamon to mine since my apple pie filling can was rather bland looking.
ReplyDeleteMine did not look like this and was not that good.
ReplyDeleteWell it is in the oven now and it has been 30 min. and isn't done yet add 10 more min. it smells great but I pulled it out and the middle wasn't done so we will see in 10 LOL
ReplyDeleteI did NOT care for this. Even my 2 and 4 year olds thought it was ewww. It looked nothing like the picture, and maybe the apple pie filling brand I used was too bland? The Angel food cake made this whole thing WAY too sweet. I wonder how it would work with spice cake mix? Anyway, if I were ever to try this again I'd use a 28oz. can of apple pie filling (vice the 14oz. can I used) and a different cake mix and I'd add nutmeg and cinnamon.
ReplyDeleteI would think you'd need to add an egg or two?
ReplyDeleteAngel food cake has egg in it already
ReplyDeleteNot all angel food cake mixes have egg in them...need to use angel food complete cake mix, the one that does not call for added eggs, just add water.
DeleteTried this tonite. Used a 21oz can of seasoned apple pie filling and a standard box of angel food cake mix. Took about 35 mins to fully cook. Kids liked it a lot, mom did not.
ReplyDeleteIt would be helpful to know what size can of pie filling, and perhaps to be sure it actually has cinnamon in it.
ReplyDeleteOh wow mine looks exactly like the picture! I too added a couple shakes of cinnamon to the mix and a couple more on top...I bought vanilla ice cream for it. I am so geeked to try it!!!
ReplyDeleteI have made this with cherry, pineapple, strawberry rhubarb and today with apple pie filling all were very yummy baked it for about 35 min. next time pumpkin filling and we'll see how that goes!
