2-Ingredient Cinnamon Apple Cake

This was another Pinterest find, though I'm not sure where it originated. It looked way too simple not to try. Indeed, it came out like a warm cobbler and made for a very satisfying treat. All-in-all this is a nice, quick dessert when you need something quick for a sweet finish.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of apple pie filling
  • 1 box of dry angel food cake mix
Instructions:
  • Mix the 2 ingredients
  • Pour into a greased 9x13 pan
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until the top browns
Believe it or not...that's all! Enjoy!

  1. Actually bake it longer - 30 minutes (ish)...

  2. Works with can of crushed pineapple too!!
Tried it with cherry pie filling and it tasted good but took much longer to cook the middle.

  5. Where's the cinnamon at though? Do you add some to the top or mix in with the other two ingredients?

  7. I baked it...could not find a can of apple pie filling made my own with green granny smith apples, cornstarch and peptin, also added cinnamon and nutmeg...to my apples...it was really good. if you make your own apples make sure your apple filling cools down to room temp...other wise your cake mix will start to cook & rise too high...and then collasp after cooling... I served it with with wipcream and sprinkle of nutmeg on top.MMMMmmm good!

  8. This was fabulous! So easy! I added a teaspoon of cinnamon to mine since my apple pie filling can was rather bland looking.

  11. I did NOT care for this. Even my 2 and 4 year olds thought it was ewww. It looked nothing like the picture, and maybe the apple pie filling brand I used was too bland? The Angel food cake made this whole thing WAY too sweet. I wonder how it would work with spice cake mix? Anyway, if I were ever to try this again I'd use a 28oz. can of apple pie filling (vice the 14oz. can I used) and a different cake mix and I'd add nutmeg and cinnamon.

  12. I would think you'd need to add an egg or two?

  13. Angel food cake has egg in it already

    1. Not all angel food cake mixes have egg in them...need to use angel food complete cake mix, the one that does not call for added eggs, just add water.

  14. Tried this tonite. Used a 21oz can of seasoned apple pie filling and a standard box of angel food cake mix. Took about 35 mins to fully cook. Kids liked it a lot, mom did not.

  15. It would be helpful to know what size can of pie filling, and perhaps to be sure it actually has cinnamon in it.
